Holiday Place Setting Tutorial…

I enjoy being crafty on my spare time, and I owe it to my mom who’s very arts and crafty herself. I remember always going with her to Michael’s stores in the past to help her create décor around the house and sometimes we’d get very elaborate. I’m grateful for my mom showing and teaching me that DIY projects are fun because it has been a hobby ever since I can remember, and most importantly I’m sure my talents will carry on with my future event planning profession which is a good thing.

So Christmas day has passed and here I am writing on my blog which I hardly attend to these days due to my busy schedule. But I feel the need to share a Christmas place setting I made, perfect for those holiday dinner parties or social setting. I thank my subscribers for being interested in my content and I hope you enjoy what I post for you and feel free to share or follow if you aren’t already!

This place setting was initially my roommate’s idea, she wanted to use candy canes and so off to the store I went after a Christmas Eve dinner at Ohjah Japanese Steakhouse, thankfully Walgreens was open, and I bought mint and chocolate candy canes with stripes of brown to match her big wooden table. Now I’ll just go ahead and list the place setting tutorial in easy steps with photos for you to get a clear picture of how it was done:

Need: Glue Gun, Dried Flowers (Baby’s Breath), Tape, Decorative Paper, Cardboard, Squiggly and Straight Scissors, Lighter, Cutting Board, Damp Paper towel, Permanent Marker, Ribbons

Step 1: Use a glue gun and make a tripod with a branch from the Baby’s Breath flowers and two candy canes. Glue one candy cane facing down with the branch and then the other upside down cane to the other side of the branch, leveled. Hold until dry which should only take a few seconds.

Step 2: Cut rectangles out of any decorative paper and burn all the edges. Then quickly pat them off with a damp paper towel so that it doesn’t burn too much but gives it a nice edge. Write name with marker.

Step 3: Use a squiggly scissor to cut rectangles (same amount as the decorative paper) but from cardboard this time and make sure it’s at least ¾” bigger all around to give the name label a border. And it doesn’t need to be perfect. I was going for a rustic, handcrafted look to match the rustic table so I like that my cutouts weren’t perfectly cut.

Step 4: Tape the bottom of the decorative paper to the cardboard to make a nice border for name label, and place on the candy canes.

Step 5: Grab a few pieces of the Baby’s Breath flowers and insert them on the top of the tripod.

Step 6: Choose 3 ribbon colors and tie them onto the top to hide the ends of the flower branches and curl them with a scissor. I chose brown and red to match the colors of the canes and then white to match the plates so that the color white flows throughout the dinner table.

Boo Hoo… to a great Concept inside a great Casino Resort…

It’s not the end of Vegas Nocturne, the most-talked about show at Rose.Rabbit.Lie, that was held at the Cosmopolitan Casino and Resort. Supposedly, from rumors, they’ll be relocating.. hmm.. I wonder where. Otherwise they began a trend I’m sure others will try to mimic in the dynamic Las Vegas market. The venue will continue to open its doors for dinner reservations with live entertainment at 5:30pm Wednesday through  Saturday, yet the most talked about show has come to a close.

Bare Pool…

I sat here feeling like a queen hanging loose against the second cushion step in a private cabana of mine during a sweltering summer day… a fan above me whirled my thick hair in the direction towards the main pool, sun kissed women stripped themselves topless; while I was relaxing eyes halfway open behind my dark shades. I swear all I was missing were topless men feeding me grapes. But even with the exception of that, being at Bare was pure bliss.

 
Light group continuously holds their impressive knack for designing spaces with incredible features in each property. Besides the outstretched layout of 2 pools directly opposing one another and flanked with lounges, impeccable VIP service and stunning guests, I would say the most stand out features are the luxury cabanas tiered in three comfy steps each with a refrigerator included. (Oh, and for the men I’m sure you wouldn’t mind the ladies baring it all!) Bare Pool provides ample space for lounging, tanning and nibbling appetizing dishes while finding privacy from the ascending palm trees of the Mirage resort. It’s never too packed either, overcrowdedness can be annoying.

 
Bare pool is one of the few that promotes the young and exposed, a bold move from the norm. Pamper yourself European style while sitting with one of their premixed cocktails from a pitcher such as a Mojito, Sangria or Bloody Mary. They are the best! When it’s time to cool off leave your refreshment in the mini refrigerator and nosedive into the delightful oasis…

ARTisan Lounge…

This is not the most talked about venue but it’s quite the hidden gem. They do hold events here but the scene in Vegas is so competitive and people are attracted to more of the hype than authentic local spots, so most times it’s empty anyway. But I prefer to come here during slow nights and catch a drink or two with a friend, it makes a nice change from the gaudy and pretentiousness of the strip and for art enthusiasts, there’s plenty of art to admire.

When I first stepped into Artisan, it reminded me of a quote by my once favorite poet, Jack Kerouac. He said, “The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved…” The design is definitely mad… madly spooky and  madly brilliant! ..With various paintings blanketing the walls and ceiling. Its renaissance meets goth. And the people who frequent this place compliment it as well.

Design is becoming more and more impressive and Artisan contains the audacity to keep up with new generation trends. It is a ritzy and intimate venue offering an alternative nightlife experience. High Roller at The LinQ!…

Have you ever seen the cartoon the Jetsons?

I don’t remember what the cartoon was about really ‘xcept that they always traveled in a sphere-like flying car and they were a happy family with a dog. I’ve always wanted to be in a future similar to theirs, we’re not at flying cars yet but hey we are pretty darn close! The High Roller observation wheel at The LinQ reminded me of the Jetson’s, being in its spherical cabin and going up to 550 ft in the sky. It’s the largest wheel in the world with epic views of Las Vegas and it rotates slowly for us to enjoy breathtaking views and photo ops.

It’s a spectacular sight to see especially at night since it glows with different LED color combinations and the most unique structure on the Strip. It also marks The LinQ’s resort at the heart of the Las Vegas, which is a destination containing shops, restaurants and nightlife. Make sure to check it out!

Todd English…

I tend to frequent this restaurant and bar inside the spacious and oh so fabulous Crystals Mall inside the City Center. It makes a perfect stop after a day of shopping or walking around Las Vegas Boulevard. And if your into sports; come eat, drink and watch from the TV’s displayed throughout the restaurant. It’s also in a perfect location one floor just above the valet and across from SHE, a Morton’s restaurant, which is also a great dining experience as well. Can’t forget to mention I come across Todd English from time to time at food festivals and nightclub outings. He’s a fun and vibrant guy which makes his brand an even more respectable household name.

Todd English, a renowned chef, restaurateur, author and television star based in Boston, Massachusetts and New York opened his first restaurant in 1989. Since then his business gained national and international acclaim for the rustic Mediterranean cuisine, and it soon made its way to Las Vegas at Crystals. The P.U.B has everything you need in a traditional hang out bar such as a full menu with traditional comfort foods, an assortment of prime meats, a raw bar, a selection of over 30 beers on tap and from all over the world as well as cask beer, which is traditional beer served from a wooden barrel. Not too mention the kitchen has never failed to prepare the most tasteful dishes that come in decent to large portions. My favorite is the tuna burger, it’s more than what you ask for but at least it’s filling and worth the money!

Cabo Wabo…

Vegas is blessed with beautiful weather, It’s sunny most of the year and tolerably cold for only a few months. The only things you suffer from really is severe seasonal allergies from our pollen infested valley and bad drivers especially when it rains. I would say from April to June is the perfect time to be sitting outside for a casual lunch or dinner and when dining, I’d recommend anywhere with a view of Las Vegas Boulevard. One of my favorite spots is the outside restaurant Cabo Wabo, it’s placed at the heart of the Strip in view of Cosmo and Bellagio, a perfect location for people watching. The energy and vibe of the place was exactly what I craved. Sometimes I need a place that’s busy with people to keep my energy going. The food came in large portions and was well worth the money too…

Sammy Hagar, aka the Red Rocker, an American musician, founded the Cabo Wabo Cantina brand and restaurant chain. The Cabo Wabo located inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood serves as the flagship U.S location for the famed restaurant overlooking prime views of Vegas’s City Center Project and the Bellagio Fountain water show, it is also the perfect spot for people watching. Parasol Up – Parasol Down Lounge…

The Wynn’s Parasol Up – Parasol Down Lounge makes for a great meeting spot if your already in the property. It’s spacious enough to accommodate a large group of guests and in close proximity to the hottest top tier venue, XS nightclub. I always find myself in awe walking through Wynn, the designs and decor is always immaculate not to mention this elegant venue has a spectacular view of the “Lake of Dreams” which has a stunning waterfall and a beautiful man-made oasis just outside the lounge. Parasol Up is settled a few steps from the casino floor and Parasol Down is just below it from the escalator on the level of the majestic oasis. Both bars offer a large selection of vegan specialty drinks and sake infused cocktails. On top of being at one of the nation’s top destinations, the bar has a great ambiance of bright reds, purples and yellows gushing from the casino floor and flashy spinning parasols dangling from the ceiling. Around the corner from Parasol is Tryst nightclub, which makes being at the bar and lounge the perfect quick stop before an exhilarating night of music and dance.
