Las Vegas Nightlife

Boo Hoo… to a great Concept inside a great Casino Resort…

It’s not the end of Vegas Nocturne, the most-talked about show at Rose.Rabbit.Lie, that was held at the Cosmopolitan Casino and Resort. Supposedly, from rumors, they’ll be relocating.. hmm.. I wonder where. Otherwise they began a trend I’m sure others will try to mimic in the dynamic Las Vegas market. The venue will continue to open its doors for dinner reservations with live entertainment at 5:30pm Wednesday through  Saturday, yet the most talked about show has come to a close.

Visit roserabbitlie.com or call 877-667-0585 to make dinner reservations.

Beauty Bar…

I remember my first taste in the artsy downtown Las Vegas area was at the Beauty Bar. It was one of my first Halloween party nights and I was dressed as a bumble bee. It was fun but we eventually made our way outside at the back of the bar since inside was so packed and stuffy, and because the fresh air seemed nice and the facade had fun graffiti to look at anyway. It definitely attracts people from all walks of life and everyone seemed free and unpretentious. That’s the great thing about the artsy world, you learn not to care. I feel Vegas has embraced that essence especially with the new venues popping up. I feel this bar is what started it all.

The Beauty Bar has been a one of a kind joint in Las Vegas since 2004 and is located on east Fremont Street across from Insert Coins. The 2,100 sq. ft. retro beauty salon-themed bar is outfitted with 50’s style décor and salon equipment from the Capri Salon of Beauty in Trenton, NJ., as well as lighting from the imploded Art Deco designed Algiers Hotel. Instead of being the typical masculine sports bar filled with overflowing beer and rowdy patrons, Beauty Bar offers a kitschy artsy type environment that is classy and fun. The gaming free hotspot provides manicure “demonstrations” and a stage indoors as well as the outside patio for up and coming artists and garage bands. Don’t miss the events posted almost every night of the week and make sure you support your local artists!

Vesper Bar…

This place makes a nice stop for after work cocktails. It’s a beautiful bar to be at anyway, right at the west lobby near the valet and in sight of the huge columns displaying customized digital experiences developed by the Rockwell Group.

The Vesper Bar, located inside the Cosmopolitan Resort, is a modest and extravagant oasis away from the boisterous casino floor. Its shimmery ambiance attracts even the most discerning onlookers and entices them into a journey of crafted signature cocktails from their exceptional mixologist who possess fine skills and passion in concocting classic recipes that’ll take you back to an era of style and grace.

The drink menu begins with “The Vesper,” a cocktail named after one of James Bond’s short lived paramour. Other than offering the perfect drinks from an extensive menu of long-forgotten recipes or even creating a custom cocktail, the space is inspired by 1950’s past entwined with an upscale contemporary environment suited for sophisticated and glamorous patrons.

Performance Art…

I think everyone needs to go big on their 30th birthday. It’s not just a time to reminiscent on your milestone of accomplishments, but its 30 years of living and that’s worth celebrating.

It was my friend Nicole’s 30th, so I organized a group of about 25 girls to Rose.Rabbit.Lie. It was my 2nd round so far and it won’t be my last. This time I was able to get some snapshots and video of our experience from our front row seats. I couldn’t catch everything because my phone was acting up… I think i-phones are meant to break after a period of time so you could spend 500 on a new one.

I absolutely love being entertained. I’ve seen many shows in Vegas from small scale to large productions, and Rose.Rabbit.Lie is one of my favorite’s. Here is a video of one of the first performances by Twin Tap Dancers (didn’t catch their names) and artist Butterscotch beatboxing…

It’s a trippy show to watch even when your sober. And man, if I was on drugs it would be even trippier, just sayin’. It’s filled with various performances, something you’d have to experience yourself. Or you can live vicariously through my photos in the meantime…

Various Acts…

We did the late 12am showing because the room turns into a nightclub afterwards. When the show was over and as the night progressed, we still saw acts that showed up unexpectedly. Drummers stepped into the middle of the dance floor and drummed to the beats of the DJ. The most memorable was the last performance at 2am… A group of girls dressed as gilded sea creatures handed out headphones to us with a voice that directed us to motion with them. It was as if the dancers were telepathically speaking to us. The night was an experience we won’t forget…

Vegas Bikini Girl…

A friend pointed out to me that he doesn’t understand why I can get nervous during an interview yet I’m confident being in a bikini. Well, I guess my world is distorted than most.

I came from a world where I have walked into an interview without saying much yet doing a 360 in my bikini, because that was the requirement. And other times, I just had to talk about my personality and how fun I am in a bikini, not so much my skills. I’ve been a bikini model, I’ve had to wear scantily clad outfits for work, been a bikini pool dealer, bikini atmosphere… etc, so yes I’m more confident in less because it is so much of a Vegas lifestyle and you don’t have to say much either!

Speaking of being in a bikini, I used to hang at SplashDance, a Nighttime pool party event at Surrender Nightclub & Encore Beach Club every Thursday night. It takes place inside Encore Casino across from Wynn. If you’re a tourist and don’t know your way around, park at the Wynn’s garage and walk the bridge to Encore, turn right into the casino and to the left there’s the entrance to Surrender.

It’s one of my favorite pool parties because for one, it takes place at night so you don’t have to worry about the sun beating down on you and sweating profusely given the Vegas heat can be unbearable at times. The nightclub opens up to the massive 60,000 sq. ft. pool area, called Encore Beach Club, which is surrounded by bungalows and cabanas on two stories. I love the elegance the venue carries from the color scheme and pops of orange accents to the lily pad daybeds placed in shallow water, a perfect area where you can mingle in the middle of the action. You can tell neither a single material nor design was overlooked.

I know many of you suffering in cold climates are dying to be in warm weather… So let me tease you with some throwbacks from Splash… Maybe it’ll entice you to visit Vegas 😛

Rose. Rabbit. Lie…

Venues and its design and events seem to be getting more and more extreme, and with the fierce competition in this industry it’s no wonder why management have to up the ante. I’m grateful to be living in a city where nightlife equals sensory overload.

A recent venue I hit up was ‘Rose. Rabbit. Lie’ inside Cosmo, commonly referred to as a “Grand Social Experiment.” It’s a place meant for those with a sense of discovery, tucked inside the halls on the second floor. You probably wouldn’t even know it’s there unless someone mentioned it but that’s the beauty because once found it’s so worth your while. It’s one of my favorite venues thus far, almost like Bucca di Beppo meets the former Act nightclub or the well-famed The Box in New York.

Like always me and my friends were able to find our way in, invited or not. Or maybe it’s the easy accessibility in Vegas for us local girls. This city spoils us.

It was during mid January for the private grand opening when we arrived, thanks to my girlfriend Mariya who always seems to work on connections. And I thank myself for talking our way into a seated VIP section in the ‘ballroom’ near the champagne tower and in great view of the performances. The first act blew me away. She went by the name Butterscotch, as seen on America’s Got Talent, she set the stage with her beatbox and singing, she was truly gifted and hyped the crowd. The second act was from a lady contortionist by the name of Pandora who shot a bow and arrow to a bullseye on stage. From there the acts kept getting more and more entertaining, whimsical and quirky! I’d recommend the later showing as the main room transitions to a nightclub. Make sure you grab a bite to eat or roam around beforehand, each room has an unforgettable dining experience. As the night unfolds you’re greeted with unconventional and scattered live performances that make you feel as if you’ve been transported to a different era.

And to add to the clever ambiance they play music untypical of the mega nightclubs in Vegas, a relief to most who are already consumed with the inescapable mash-ups and EDM.

Why the name? Rose. Rabbit. Lie? It has nothing to do with each other but it’s catchy and as their site suggests, “it delivers an unexpected mash-up of experiences that typically live detached from one another… adheres to no standard model, follows no written rules. Come when you want. Leave when you wish. Let the night take the lead.” …So enjoy!
