Cabo Wabo…

Vegas is blessed with beautiful weather, It’s sunny most of the year and tolerably cold for only a few months. The only things you suffer from really is severe seasonal allergies from our pollen infested valley and bad drivers especially when it rains. I would say from April to June is the perfect time to be sitting outside for a casual lunch or dinner and when dining, I’d recommend anywhere with a view of Las Vegas Boulevard. One of my favorite spots is the outside restaurant Cabo Wabo, it’s placed at the heart of the Strip in view of Cosmo and Bellagio, a perfect location for people watching. I was here the other day when it was a sunny 70 degrees catching up with a DJ friend of mine, http://www.kydwicked.com/,  we chose to have a table under the umbrella. The energy and vibe of the place was exactly what I craved. Sometimes I need a place that’s busy with people to keep my energy going. The food came in large portions and was well worth the money too…

Sammy Hagar, aka the Red Rocker, an American musician, founded the Cabo Wabo Cantina brand and restaurant chain. The Cabo Wabo located inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood serves as the flagship U.S location for the famed restaurant overlooking prime views of Vegas’s City Center Project and the Bellagio Fountain water show, it is also the perfect spot for people watching. The two-level 15,000 sq. ft. cantina has a fully stocked bar of over 60+ Tequila’s and a wide variety of Mexican beer and cocktails. Cabo Wabo also serves flavorful authentic Mexican Cuisine, specializing in fajita selections and is host to many events and occasional live rock n’ roll music on its vibrant public patio. For a little Mexican twist and a beach-town vibe of Cabo San Lucas, Hagar’s iconic cantina combines a live Mariachi Band with a signature Brunch offered seasonally from 9:30-3:30pm. Enjoy delectable dishes with a Waborita trademark cocktail or a tasteful Cabo Wabo Margarita and take in amazing front seat views of the legendary Las Vegas Strip.

Rose. Rabbit. Lie…

Venues and its design and events seem to be getting more and more extreme, and with the fierce competition in this industry it’s no wonder why management have to up the ante. I’m grateful to be living in a city where nightlife equals sensory overload.

A recent venue I hit up was ‘Rose. Rabbit. Lie’ inside Cosmo, commonly referred to as a “Grand Social Experiment.” It’s a place meant for those with a sense of discovery, tucked inside the halls on the second floor. You probably wouldn’t even know it’s there unless someone mentioned it but that’s the beauty because once found it’s so worth your while. It’s one of my favorite venues thus far, almost like Bucca di Beppo meets the former Act nightclub or the well-famed The Box in New York.

Like always me and my friends were able to find our way in, invited or not. Or maybe it’s the easy accessibility in Vegas for us local girls. This city spoils us.

It was during mid January for the private grand opening when we arrived, thanks to my girlfriend Mariya who always seems to work on connections. And I thank myself for talking our way into a seated VIP section in the ‘ballroom’ near the champagne tower and in great view of the performances. The first act blew me away. She went by the name Butterscotch, as seen on America’s Got Talent, she set the stage with her beatbox and singing, she was truly gifted and hyped the crowd. The second act was from a lady contortionist by the name of Pandora who shot a bow and arrow to a bullseye on stage. From there the acts kept getting more and more entertaining, whimsical and quirky! I’d recommend the later showing as the main room transitions to a nightclub. Make sure you grab a bite to eat or roam around beforehand, each room has an unforgettable dining experience. As the night unfolds you’re greeted with unconventional and scattered live performances that make you feel as if you’ve been transported to a different era.

And to add to the clever ambiance they play music untypical of the mega nightclubs in Vegas, a relief to most who are already consumed with the inescapable mash-ups and EDM.

Why the name? Rose. Rabbit. Lie? It has nothing to do with each other but it’s catchy and as their site suggests, “it delivers an unexpected mash-up of experiences that typically live detached from one another… adheres to no standard model, follows no written rules. Come when you want. Leave when you wish. Let the night take the lead.” …So enjoy!
