Beauty Bar…

I remember my first taste in the artsy downtown Las Vegas area was at the Beauty Bar. It was one of my first Halloween party nights and I was dressed as a bumble bee. It was fun but we eventually made our way outside at the back of the bar since inside was so packed and stuffy, and because the fresh air seemed nice and the facade had fun graffiti to look at anyway. It definitely attracts people from all walks of life and everyone seemed free and unpretentious. That’s the great thing about the artsy world, you learn not to care. I feel Vegas has embraced that essence especially with the new venues popping up. I feel this bar is what started it all.

The Beauty Bar has been a one of a kind joint in Las Vegas since 2004 and is located on east Fremont Street across from Insert Coins. The 2,100 sq. ft. retro beauty salon-themed bar is outfitted with 50’s style décor and salon equipment from the Capri Salon of Beauty in Trenton, NJ., as well as lighting from the imploded Art Deco designed Algiers Hotel. Instead of being the typical masculine sports bar filled with overflowing beer and rowdy patrons, Beauty Bar offers a kitschy artsy type environment that is classy and fun. The gaming free hotspot provides manicure “demonstrations” and a stage indoors as well as the outside patio for up and coming artists and garage bands. Don’t miss the events posted almost every night of the week and make sure you support your local artists!
