Being a party pit blackjack dealer is kind of like being a puppy in a pet store.
Men circle the pit to choose which girl he’d like to play with. It’s sometimes creepy and you can’t walk away, sometimes I just go along with it and smile and other times I just don’t care.
I’ve been very fortunate to work with an agency that has been so flexible with my wants and needs so I’ve stuck around with them for a while now. It’s fun and easy and I think I became a professional sarcastic bs’er from all that small talk at that job too. Plus I can count to 21 really fast, a useless skill I’ve acquired throughout the years haha. I’ve also been lucky to have worked at the best properties on the strip. My job can get really fun at times and you conversate with some amazing people from all around the world and sometimes it so fun for them even, that they don’t care if they lose the money because of the experience and hospitality.
…Hard Rock Casino was at its peak before Cosmo got built, and it was sooo much fun! Me and my coworkers got along and went out almost every week. Hard Rock was and always will have a place in my heart mainly because of my coworkers, they seemed like family.

While most casinos were focused on being gaudy and pretentious, it was Hard Rock that stood out. It was something with the old vibe, rowdy culture, loud rock music and oddly enough – even the musty smell.
Not to mention we had the sexiest party pit dealers called the Helles Belles. The concept was still fairly new, so it was exciting. We were provided all black attire with tanks we were able to shred or cut up according to our preference. Our pleaded skirts were more like underwear that showed the bottom half of our booties but hey it made us motivated to work on our squats. There were no rules with our old management team so our go-go pole dancers wore what they want and danced and worked that pole the way they want.

…Then Cosmopolitan Casino got built, and that pulled a lot of casinos down the drain, reputation wise… And because almost every casino seemed to be renovating, Hard Rock renovated too and new management took over. They took away our big stage in the middle of the pit, expanded the casino with a new tower and even closed Wasted Space, one of the hottest rock venues.
The old vibe withered away shortly after. Sometimes it’s best to leave things small and the way they were.
So on to the next bigger and better property which is Cosmo. There’s a party pit at the exciting Marquee nightclub and day club and The Bond pit, which is tucked inside the east corner of the casino. The Bond is an interesting concept; its inspiration came from James Bond. We’re in a sophisticated look consisting of black faux silk rompers, minimal jewelry and our hair up in a clean, classic bun to display sophistication and a level of respect. Many of us feel we resemble women from the 50’s era.
A DJ plays towards the late hours with an eclectic mix of genres from hip-hop, swing, to chill out, dance, you name it. It definitely has a swanky lounge-type vibe, besides the slot machines surrounding the pit. On busy nights, you can catch various entertainment acts like swing and tap dancers filling up the bar space next to the DJ Booth. Around the bar area near the blackjack pit, you can catch Bond go-go dancers in a lighted stage area greeting guests entering Cosmo. And a couple more dancers dressed in leotards are lifted up with a chain to dance in their elevated booth about 10′ high. It’s a pleasant sight to see coming from the street. And the music is what makes the place lively. There’s no other casino that will have as many people smiling as Cosmo does. Loud and rowdy environments are what I’m accustomed to and if I don’t have it in my life, I wouldn’t know what to do.
Our go-go dancers placed in the center of both blackjack pits are more of ballet-type dancers armed with their own synchronized modern dance moves. Our pit is unlike any other because of our dancers, they carry a theatrical sense. Each dancer even has her own ballet bar on stage. The most eye-catching is our beautiful swinger, yes swinger, adorned with a flowery pink or flowy dress. Her job is to swing on 30 minute increments. You can spot her on a high LED swing parallel to the floor to ceiling window. Its funny seeing passerby’s stopping to gawk, snap photos and eventually making their way in, a smart move from the marketing design team.
The notion of nightclub meets casino gaming is a brilliant concept and I hope it sticks around for a long time. Moreover, The Cosmopolitan has something for everyone, and since it also mimics New York, which is a city I love by the way, I seem to be attracted to this place. It’s hip, trendy, vibrant, and clean. I even catch myself here on my days off. Not to mention it promotes art ranging from fun installations to art pieces on the walls, the décor is top notch mostly consisting of hand-blown glass and each level of the garage displays fun graffiti art from different artists. There’s so much more to say about this property. Just check out their site and if you have any questions ask away!
P.S. Cigarettes are disgusting. Period. Quit!
