ARTisan Lounge…

This is not the most talked about venue but it’s quite the hidden gem. They do hold events here but the scene in Vegas is so competitive and people are attracted to more of the hype than authentic local spots, so most times it’s empty anyway. But I prefer to come here during slow nights and catch a drink or two with a friend, it makes a nice change from the gaudy and pretentiousness of the strip and for art enthusiasts, there’s plenty of art to admire.

When I first stepped into Artisan, it reminded me of a quote by my once favorite poet, Jack Kerouac. He said, “The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved…” The design is definitely mad… madly spooky and  madly brilliant! ..With various paintings blanketing the walls and ceiling. Its renaissance meets goth. And the people who frequent this place compliment it as well.

Design is becoming more and more impressive and Artisan contains the audacity to keep up with new generation trends. It is a ritzy and intimate venue offering an alternative nightlife experience. Artisan lounge brings something extra to the table in terms of indulgence with its provocative paintings by Monet, Picasso, Da Vinci, Salvador Dali and more. A dark-toned palette, leather seating and Gothic touches add to the overwhelming ambiance and entices intellectual conversations. High Roller at The LinQ!…

Have you ever seen the cartoon the Jetsons?

I don’t remember what the cartoon was about really ‘xcept that they always traveled in a sphere-like flying car and they were a happy family with a dog. I’ve always wanted to be in a future similar to theirs, we’re not at flying cars yet but hey we are pretty darn close! The High Roller observation wheel at The LinQ reminded me of the Jetson’s, being in its spherical cabin and going up to 550 ft in the sky. It’s the largest wheel in the world with epic views of Las Vegas and it rotates slowly for us to enjoy breathtaking views and photo ops.

It’s a spectacular sight to see especially at night since it glows with different LED color combinations and the most unique structure on the Strip. It also marks The LinQ’s resort at the heart of the Las Vegas, which is a destination containing shops, restaurants and nightlife. Make sure to check it out!

Todd English…

I tend to frequent this restaurant and bar inside the spacious and oh so fabulous Crystals Mall inside the City Center. It makes a perfect stop after a day of shopping or walking around Las Vegas Boulevard. And if your into sports; come eat, drink and watch from the TV’s displayed throughout the restaurant. It’s also in a perfect location one floor just above the valet and across from SHE, a Morton’s restaurant, which is also a great dining experience as well. Can’t forget to mention I come across Todd English from time to time at food festivals and nightclub outings. He’s a fun and vibrant guy which makes his brand an even more respectable household name.

Todd English, a renowned chef, restaurateur, author and television star based in Boston, Massachusetts and New York opened his first restaurant in 1989. Since then his business gained national and international acclaim for the rustic Mediterranean cuisine, and it soon made its way to Las Vegas at Crystals. The P.U.B has everything you need in a traditional hang out bar such as a full menu with traditional comfort foods, an assortment of prime meats, a raw bar, a selection of over 30 beers on tap and from all over the world as well as cask beer, which is traditional beer served from a wooden barrel. Not too mention the kitchen has never failed to prepare the most tasteful dishes that come in decent to large portions. My favorite is the tuna burger, it’s more than what you ask for but at least it’s filling and worth the money!

Cabo Wabo…

Vegas is blessed with beautiful weather, It’s sunny most of the year and tolerably cold for only a few months. The only things you suffer from really is severe seasonal allergies from our pollen infested valley and bad drivers especially when it rains. I would say from April to June is the perfect time to be sitting outside for a casual lunch or dinner and when dining, I’d recommend anywhere with a view of Las Vegas Boulevard. One of my favorite spots is the outside restaurant Cabo Wabo, it’s placed at the heart of the Strip in view of Cosmo and Bellagio, a perfect location for people watching. I was here the other day when it was a sunny 70 degrees catching up with a DJ friend of mine, http://www.kydwicked.com/,  we chose to have a table under the umbrella. The energy and vibe of the place was exactly what I craved. Sometimes I need a place that’s busy with people to keep my energy going. The food came in large portions and was well worth the money too…

Sammy Hagar, aka the Red Rocker, an American musician, founded the Cabo Wabo Cantina brand and restaurant chain. The Cabo Wabo located inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood serves as the flagship U.S location for the famed restaurant overlooking prime views of Vegas’s City Center Project and the Bellagio Fountain water show, it is also the perfect spot for people watching. The two-level 15,000 sq. ft. cantina has a fully stocked bar of over 60+ Tequila’s and a wide variety of Mexican beer and cocktails. Parasol Up – Parasol Down Lounge…

The Wynn’s Parasol Up – Parasol Down Lounge makes for a great meeting spot if your already in the property. It’s spacious enough to accommodate a large group of guests and in close proximity to the hottest top tier venue, XS nightclub. I always find myself in awe walking through Wynn, the designs and decor is always immaculate not to mention this elegant venue has a spectacular view of the “Lake of Dreams” which has a stunning waterfall and a beautiful man-made oasis just outside the lounge. Parasol Up is settled a few steps from the casino floor and Parasol Down is just below it from the escalator on the level of the majestic oasis. Both bars offer a large selection of vegan specialty drinks and sake infused cocktails. On top of being at one of the nation’s top destinations, the bar has a great ambiance of bright reds, purples and yellows gushing from the casino floor and flashy spinning parasols dangling from the ceiling. Around the corner from Parasol is Tryst nightclub, which makes being at the bar and lounge the perfect quick stop before an exhilarating night of music and dance.

Beauty Bar…

I remember my first taste in the artsy downtown Las Vegas area was at the Beauty Bar. It was one of my first Halloween party nights and I was dressed as a bumble bee. It was fun but we eventually made our way outside at the back of the bar since inside was so packed and stuffy, and because the fresh air seemed nice and the facade had fun graffiti to look at anyway. It definitely attracts people from all walks of life and everyone seemed free and unpretentious. That’s the great thing about the artsy world, you learn not to care. I feel Vegas has embraced that essence especially with the new venues popping up. I feel this bar is what started it all.

The Beauty Bar has been a one of a kind joint in Las Vegas since 2004 and is located on east Fremont Street across from Insert Coins. The 2,100 sq. ft. retro beauty salon-themed bar is outfitted with 50’s style décor and salon equipment from the Capri Salon of Beauty in Trenton, NJ., as well as lighting from the imploded Art Deco designed Algiers Hotel. Instead of being the typical masculine sports bar filled with overflowing beer and rowdy patrons, Beauty Bar offers a kitschy artsy type environment that is classy and fun. The gaming free hotspot provides manicure “demonstrations” and a stage indoors as well as the outside patio for up and coming artists and garage bands. Vesper Bar…

This place makes a nice stop for after work cocktails. It’s a beautiful bar to be at anyway, right at the west lobby near the valet and in sight of the huge columns displaying customized digital experiences developed by the Rockwell Group.

The Vesper Bar, located inside the Cosmopolitan Resort, is a modest and extravagant oasis away from the boisterous casino floor. Its shimmery ambiance attracts even the most discerning onlookers and entices them into a journey of crafted signature cocktails from their exceptional mixologist who possess fine skills and passion in concocting classic recipes that’ll take you back to an era of style and grace.

The drink menu begins with “The Vesper,” a cocktail named after one of James Bond’s short lived paramour. Performance Art…

I think everyone needs to go big on their 30th birthday. It’s not just a time to reminiscent on your milestone of accomplishments, but its 30 years of living and that’s worth celebrating.

It was my friend Nicole’s 30th, so I organized a group of about 25 girls to Rose.Rabbit.Lie. It was my 2nd round so far and it won’t be my last. This time I was able to get some snapshots and video of our experience from our front row seats. I couldn’t catch everything because my phone was acting up… I think i-phones are meant to break after a period of time so you could spend 500 on a new one.

I absolutely love being entertained. I’ve seen many shows in Vegas from small scale to large productions, and Rose.Rabbit.Lie is one of my favorite’s. Here is a video of one of the first performances by Twin Tap Dancers (didn’t catch their names) and artist Butterscotch beatboxing…

It’s a trippy show to watch even when your sober. And man, if I was on drugs it would be even trippier, just sayin’. It’s filled with various performances, something you’d have to experience yourself. Or you can live vicariously through my photos in the meantime…

Various Acts…

We did the late 12am showing because the room turns into a nightclub afterwards. When the show was over and as the night progressed, we still saw acts that showed up unexpectedly. Drummers stepped into the middle of the dance floor and drummed to the beats of the DJ. The most memorable was the last performance at 2am… A group of girls dressed as gilded sea creatures handed out headphones to us with a voice that directed us to motion with them. It was as if the dancers were telepathically speaking to us. The night was an experience we won’t forget…

Dealer that Inhales Second Hand Smoke…

Being a party pit blackjack dealer is kind of like being a puppy in a pet store.

Men circle the pit to choose which girl he’d like to play with. It’s sometimes creepy and you can’t walk away, sometimes I just go along with it and smile and other times I just don’t care.

I’ve been very fortunate to work with an agency that has been so flexible with my wants and needs so I’ve stuck around with them for a while now. It’s fun and easy and I think I became a professional sarcastic bs’er from all that small talk at that job too. Plus I can count to 21 really fast, a useless skill I’ve acquired throughout the years haha. I’ve also been lucky to have worked at the best properties on the strip. My job can get really fun at times and you conversate with some amazing people from all around the world and sometimes it so fun for them even, that they don’t care if they lose the money because of the experience and hospitality.

Hard Rock Casino was at its peak before Cosmo got built, and it was sooo much fun! Me and my coworkers got along and went out almost every week. Hard Rock was and always will have a place in my heart mainly because of my coworkers, they seemed like family.

While most casinos were focused on being gaudy and pretentious, it was Hard Rock that stood out. It was something with the old vibe, rowdy culture, loud rock music and oddly enough – even the musty smell.

Not to mention we had the sexiest party pit dealers called the Helles Belles. The concept was still fairly new, so it was exciting. We were provided all black attire with tanks we were able to shred or cut up according to our preference. Our pleaded skirts were more like underwear that showed the bottom half of our booties but hey it made us motivated to work on our squats. There were no rules with our old management team so our go-go pole dancers wore what they want and danced and worked that pole the way they want.

…Then Cosmopolitan Casino got built, and that pulled a lot of casinos down the drain, reputation wise… And because almost every casino seemed to be renovating, Hard Rock renovated too and new management took over. They took away our big stage in the middle of the pit, expanded the casino with a new tower and even closed Wasted Space, one of the hottest rock venues.

The old vibe withered away shortly after. Sometimes it’s best to leave things small and the way they were.

So on to the next bigger and better property which is Cosmo. There’s a party pit at the exciting Marquee nightclub and day club and The Bond pit, which is tucked inside the east corner of the casino. The Bond is an interesting concept; its inspiration came from James Bond. We’re in a sophisticated look consisting of black faux silk rompers, minimal jewelry and our hair up in a clean, classic bun to display sophistication and a level of respect. Many of us feel we resemble women from the 50’s era.

A DJ plays towards the late hours with an eclectic mix of genres from hip-hop, swing, to chill out, dance, you name it. It definitely has a swanky lounge-type vibe, besides the slot machines surrounding the pit. On busy nights, you can catch various entertainment acts like swing and tap dancers filling up the bar space next to the DJ Booth. Around the bar area near the blackjack pit, you can catch Bond go-go dancers in a lighted stage area greeting guests entering Cosmo. And a couple more dancers dressed in leotards are lifted up with a chain to dance in their elevated booth about 10′ high. It’s a pleasant sight to see coming from the street. And the music is what makes the place lively. There’s no other casino that will have as many people smiling as Cosmo does. Loud and rowdy environments are what I’m accustomed to and if I don’t have it in my life, I wouldn’t know what to do.

Our go-go dancers placed in the center of both blackjack pits are more of ballet-type dancers armed with their own synchronized modern dance moves. Our pit is unlike any other because of our dancers, they carry a theatrical sense. Each dancer even has her own ballet bar on stage. The most eye-catching is our beautiful swinger, yes swinger, adorned with a flowery pink or flowy dress. Her job is to swing on 30 minute increments. You can spot her on a high LED swing parallel to the floor to ceiling window. Its funny seeing passerby’s stopping to gawk, snap photos and eventually making their way in, a smart move from the marketing design team.

The notion of nightclub meets casino gaming is a brilliant concept and I hope it sticks around for a long time. Moreover, The Cosmopolitan has something for everyone, and since it also mimics New York, which is a city I love by the way, I seem to be attracted to this place. It’s hip, trendy, vibrant, and clean. I even catch myself here on my days off. Not to mention it promotes art ranging from fun installations to art pieces on the walls, the décor is top notch mostly consisting of hand-blown glass and each level of the garage displays fun graffiti art from different artists. There’s so much more to say about this property. Just check out their site and if you have any questions ask away!
